Turning the world upside down
2Player got the call from Giant Spoon to collaborate on the ideation and pitch for what would become the most ambitious experiential undertaking of any entertainment franchise to date.
The result was a never-before-done takeover of the "Empire Strange Building", causing midtown Manhattan to grind to a halt, generating global headlines, and becoming the program template for a global strategy that opened portals on landmarks worldwide to turn the world Upside Down.
Immersion at scale
Empire Strange Building required incredible worlds-first media partnerships by Giant Spoon and technical feats by superduper partners Superbien —and a ground game that included rooftop VIP viewing, a synced audio takeover of Flatiron plaza, and atmospheric bus takeovers and roaming brand ambassadors that extended far beyond the events themselves.
The NYC program then became the template for dozens of activations led by additional production partners around the world, from Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, to the Guggenheim Bilbao in País Vasco, Spain. Everywhere, the Upside Down began leaking into our world under the massive coordinated effort.
Stranger Things Season 4 was viewed over a billion hours the week of launch, and this project helped propel our client Giant Spoon to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies—the only agency on the list.
